The Honorable Andy Jacobs, Jr. '58 to Speak at LRAP Fund Raiser The
Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP)
was started to ensure that graduates can afford to pursue public service careers consistent with their efforts during law school. A significant number of law students wish to pursue public interest careers where there are a wide variety of opportunities but limited compensation. However, many students choose not to follow through with these plans when faced with the financial difficulties this path presents. The goal is to enable our graduates to work for equal justice and provide legal assistance to people who might otherwise not have access to it. In order to make this program a reality, Equal Justice Works has organized the
First Annual Public Interest Recognition Dinner, a fundraising event specifically created to honor alumni who have pursued careers in public interest law and to raise funds forthe LRAPEndowment. The dinner is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2009, and there are still sponsorship opportunities available and we are still accepting donations to LRAP.
Former Congressman Andy Jacobs,Jr. '58 will be the Guest Speaker. Featured Honorees will be Emily Benfer, Class of 2005, Georgetown School of Law; Marco Moreno, Class of 2003, Lewis & Kappes; Melody Goldberg, Class of 2006, Indiana Legal Services. Full details...
